Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) just stunned the U.S. Senate. He officially ended the speculation on how an impeachment trial should be handled — Democrats are furious.
“If we don’t get the articles this week, then we need to take matters in our own hands and change the rules,” said Graham. “Deem them to be delivered to the Senate.”
Speakers of the House Nancy Pelosi can’t be allowed to grandstand any longer — that’s why he is proposing a rule change, which will certainly be controversial, but it needs to happen.
Instead of following tradition, Pelosi has refused to transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate for a trial, even though the House voted on impeachment days ago. This is unprecedented.
“My goal is to start this trial in the next coming days, not let Nancy Pelosi take over the Senate,” continued Graham, driving his point home. And the rule could be changed with a simple majority.
This would allow the Senate to move forward with a trial and get it finished in short order, which is exactly what Pelosi is trying to prevent. She cares more about her agenda than following the process.
