House minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is confident he can reverse the fortunes of the Republican party and take back the House from Democrats in November.
During a press conference on Friday, McCarthy said that Republicans have a strong “opportunity” to retake the House.
McCarthy went on to analyze the situation in many different races that show Republicans poised for victory. Republicans need a net of 17 seats to retake the majority.
The important factor for Republicans is winning battleground seats that voted for President Trump in 2016.
McCarthy continued saying, “Republicans now have more seats than they had before at the start of this [congressional term]. We only need 17 seats to win the majority, and Democrats have fewer members than they did when they started this out. So, yeah, it’s going to be competitive, but I still believe that we have the opportunity to win the majority, and we’ll see that in November.”
Winning back the House is nearly as important as President Trump winning the presidential election. Republicans need to campaign hard until November and remove Democrats from power.
