White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is out. President Donald Trump is completely stunned, but he is hoping for the best. No one expected this to happen.
“After testing negative constantly, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms,” said McEnany in a statement. Physical press conferences have been ruled out.
Instead, she “will begin the quarantine process and will continue working on behalf of the American People remotely.” This speaks strongly to her work ethic — even while sick, she has no plans of slowing down.
It also helps that McEnany is reportedly asymptomatic, meaning she has zero symptoms of the virus. But this still makes her a carrier and it is why she is doing the responsible thing and quarantining until she no longer tests positive.
As Trump’s press secretary, McEnany has been in close contact with the president and cabinet-level workers — such as Trump’s advisor, Hope Hicks, who also tested positive for the virus and is currently recovering.
The media, of course, wants to make a big deal of this “outbreak” at the White House, but it was only a matter of time before someone caught it. Trump, McEnany, and others on staff maintain an aggressive travel schedule — there’s no telling where they contracted the virus.
