A former aide to Vice President Kamala Harris has criticized the administration for its testing protocols in the White House.
Kavita Patel, who is now at the Brookings Institution, said Monday, “If this were the Trump administration, we would be talking about how they were putting staff and the health of their potentially unvaccinated household members in jeopardy.”
She was referring to the fact that the White House is mostly testing those with symptoms, who have been exposed to someone with COVID, or those who need weekly testing because they are not vaccinated.
Also, some who needed testing were sent to a retail location like a CVS rather than being able to get tested on site.
With the delta variant, there have been more breakthrough cases among the vaccinated and a higher number of infections in those not vaccinated.
