During an interview with the New York Times back in 2019, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) said that she was “absolutely” in favor of packing the Supreme Court.
Harris was asked, “Are you open to expanding the size of the Supreme Court?” to which Harris responded saying she was for packing the court if she deemed it necessary.
These comments are especially important as Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden has stated that voters don’t need to know his position on expanding the Supreme Court.
During the Vice Presidential debate on Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence asked Harris, “I think the American people really deserve an answer, Senator Harris. Are you and Joe Biden going to pack the court if Judge Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed?”
Unlike in 2o19 during an interview with the New York Times, Harris responded by saying, “The American people are voting right now and it should be their decision about who will serve on this most important body for a lifetime.”
Harris’s complete nonanswer should tell voters everything they need to know. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will pack the Supreme Court if they are allowed to get into the White House.
