Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill has barred Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and three additional lawyers from his office from working on the George Floyd case because of “sloppy” work.
Freeman and his associates apparently sent prosecutors to question the medical examiner, which made them witnesses to the case.
Floyd died after Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin put his knee on Floyd’s neck for over eight minutes, even when Floyd said he couldn’t breathe and then passed out.
Chauvin and other defendants have been blaming each other and EMS for Floyd’s death in recent weeks and are now requesting separate trials.
I think the prosecution has an uphill battle ahead of it to prove definitively that Chauvin and his fellow officers caused Floyd’s death, but mistakes like this don’t make it any easier, do they?
