Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) just completely destroyed them. Democrats are fuming, but there’s nothing they can do about it. He owned them all.
Appearing on Fox News, Hawley responded to a spurious accusation by Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). He accused Hawley of being a “ringleader” of the riot that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 8.
“The idea that leading a democratic debate on election integrity on the floor of the Senate is akin to violence,” said Hawley, “That’s a lie.” He made it clear what this is actually all about — an attempt “to silence political opponents.”
The Capitol riot is now being used as a pretext to block and any all discussions around election integrity. Simply put, Democrats don’t want to hear it; they are not interested in separating fact from fiction.
This is ironic, of course, considering that Democrats essentially claimed the 2016 election was stolen by Russia — which was always a ridiculous claim. Now that people are pointing out legitimate irregularities from 2020, it is different.
It is about shaming political opponents into silence. “That is wrong,” said Hawley. “That is un-American. It is unconstitutional. And I’m not going to stand for it. I’m not going to be intimidated by it.”
