Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is calling out President Joe Biden’s recent comments about Facebook and his urging the platform to remove disinformation about COVID vaccines there so they can stop “killing people.”
She appeared on Fox News Radio’s “Guy Benson Show” Monday to wonder why Biden can’t be as tough on China, Iran and Cuba as he is on Facebook.
Blackburn said, “[A]s far as the president with this thing about they’re ‘killing people,’ then what does he say about the Uyghurs in China? What does he say about the Hong Kong freedom fighters? What does he say about the people of Iran who were pushing back against their government? Or the Cubans who are trying to push back against their government?”
It’s a good point, and one that doesn’t even consider whether Biden has any consitutional or legal authority to tell a company what kind of speech it can allow on its platform.
“He cannot continue to say this and throw things out there,” Blackburn concluded, but it remains to be seen whether Biden will be able to get away with doing so or not.
