Joe Biden needs help from the moderate Democrats and Republicans to pass his agenda. He counted on their votes and it looks like he’s not getting it.
Republican Susan Collins announce she will oppose President Biden’s nominee to lead the Office of Management and Budget, Neera Tanden.
Fox News called the news “another blow to the odds of confirmation.”
“Congress has to be able to trust the OMB director to make countless decisions in an impartial manner, carrying out the letter of the law and congressional intent,” said Collins said in a statement. “Neera Tanden has neither the experience nor the temperament to lead this critical agency.”
Democrat Joe Manchin has already said he would oppose Tanden’s nomination.
As the time of this writing, Biden has not withdrawn the nomination.,
