President Joe Biden’s polling in key swing states is so bad now that Democrats are worried he will pull down the standing of midterm congressional candidates and give the GOP a greater chance of retaking the House and Senate in 2022.
Biden is upside down–more voters disapprove than approve of the job he’s doing–in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin, according to a Civiqs poll.
In a number of states that Biden won in 2020, he is upside down by double digits. He is -13 in Georgia, -12 in Pennsylvania, and -11 in Arizona.
Typically, presidents help the down-party candidates, but in this case, Biden may have the opposite effect.
If the GOP can pick up just five House seats in 2022, that will be enough to give Republicans the majority. They only need 1 seat in the Senate.
