The Biden DOJ is dropping charges against five Chinese military members who prosecutors said lied to get visas and jobs in U.S. universities.
Juan Tang, Chen Song, Kaikai Zhao, and Guan Lei will all have charges against them dropped because the Biden administration wants them to go back to China faster, and continuing to prosecute them will only delay their return.
Also, they already spent several months to a year in prison awaiting for their cases to be heard, which is about the sentence they would have gotten if convicted of the charges.
The only difference is that they don’t have any convictions on their records, which could allow them to commit further fraud in the future.
It seems to me that the Biden administration just let some more Chinese criminals off the hook, and that probably isn’t a good idea at this point.
