Just days into his Presidency, Biden is already backtracking on promises to reverse the coronavirus pandemic’s course immediately, and the excuses are coming fast and furious.
During a press briefing on Friday, Biden said, “If we fail to act, there will be a wave of evictions and foreclosures in the coming months as this pandemic rages on. There’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months.”
After months of criticizing former President Trump’s handling of the pandemic and promising dramatic changes to make things better immediately, Biden has come face to face with reality.
These remarks also came after Biden signed an executive order requiring masks be worn on all federal property, an order he himself promptly violated.
Biden’s excuses signal that he will be spending the next few months blaming former President Trump for the pandemic and failing to do anything to make significant changes.
The reality is that there is little that can be done. Businesses must be allowed to reopen, and the economy must return to normal, but Americans shouldn’t hold their breath for any of that. Instead, it is time to strap in for four years of blaming Trump for everything that goes wrong, including the spread of the coronavirus.
