White House press secretary Jen Psaki appeared to walk back President Biden’s promise that his administration would evacuate any American still trapped in Afghanistan.
During a daily press briefing, Psaki responded to a question about Biden’s stance on reducing trapped Americans. Psaki declined to guarantee that those trapped in Afghanistan will be rescued, a marked departure from what Biden himself told the nation.
During a speech on Sunday, President Biden told Americans that, “[L]et me be clear, any American who wants to come home, we will get you home.”
Now the White House is telling the nation that it is likely that some Americans will be left behind. The Biden administration clearly doesn’t believe in “no man left behind.”
President Biden himself has been attempting to walk back on his promises. When pressed by reporters, Biden said, “Getting every single person out is — can’t be guaranteed to anybody because there’s a determination, all who wants to get out as well.”
It seems that President Biden now knows everyone cannot get out of Afghanistan and is doing damage control ahead of time. Ultimately, this disaster was created by Biden and the lives lost are his responsibility.
