After keeping silent about the numerous sexual harassment allegations against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) for weeks, President Joe Biden finally commented on the scandal Sunday, but stopped short of joining with other Democrats to call for Cuomo’s resignation.
When reporters asked Biden during an unscheduled Q&A to comment on Cuomo, he said, “I think the investigation is underway and we should see what it brings us.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has also taken a wait-and-see approach to Cuomo’s troubles, but most other Democrats have called on him to resign after at least six women accused him of inappropriate comments, questions, and touching.
Cuomo has claimed that the allegations are not true, although he did admit to some of the things the women accused him of, saying that he was only “joking” or that his actions were misinterpreted by the women.
The state attorney general is investigating the accusations, and nearly 90% of New York’s congressional delegation has called on him to resign or be impeached, along with more than 80% of state senators.
