President Joe Biden has quit on efforts to extract Afghan commandos from Afghanistan who have been in hiding from the Taliban since the country fell in August of last year.
Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) said during an interview on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends,” that “I don’t even have words to do the calculation of what we owe them, standing alongside of us, putting in their hearts what a real country could be like with those things like those five basic freedoms that we enjoy here in America, to understand that they could have freedom of religion and press and speech and to petition their government and all of these things, to teach them about those things and then snatch them away from them.”
President Joe Biden has betrayed our allies and sent the message to future partners that they will be abandoned if convenient.
Representative Mast continued saying, “To teach them how to fight for those things in real tactical ways and then say we’re going to turn our back and we’re going to make new friends with your sworn enemy that we’ve been fighting for the last 20 years. We need to get them out. This administration is doing nothing to do so.”
The President’s decision to abandon our allies is not only short-sighted but also immoral. The people who put their lives on the line to fight for us deserve our help.
The President must be held accountable for his baffling decision to abandon our allies. Unfortunately for those Afghan commandos, they will likely have to wait until Republicans gain power for any meaningful action to be taken.
