Former Vice President Joe Biden just announced a major decision. He is quitting — he dropped out and his own party is stunned.
In a stunning move, Biden chose to forgo attending the California Democratic Convention — a key event leading into an election year — with many of his primary opponents.
Sen. Bernie Sanders said, “There is a debate among presidential candidates who have spoken to you here in this room and those who have chosen for whatever reason not to be in this room.”
Sanders was clearly leveling veiled criticism at Biden for ditching the convention. Conservative pollster Frank Luntz said it may have been a smart strategic move, however.
“The senator – the vice president – does not want to be compared to his opponents until he gets on the debate stage,” said Luntz on Fox News.
He also said Biden only wants to be compared to others “when it matters,” and even went so far as to say “it was a good strategy to skip California.”
