Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear (D) declared a state of emergency on Saturday after horrific tornados tore through Kentucky during a multi-state rampage.
Governor Beshear is even asking President Biden for help after the storm caused “significant loss of life.”
The death toll was exacerbated by a Graves County factory collapsing. Work had continued at the factory despite warnings of the severe storm.
The Kentucky National Guard was quickly deployed to deal with the crisis, but it quickly became apparent that Kentucky was in desperate need of outside help.
In a letter to President Biden, Governor Beshear wrote, “I request that you declare an emergency disaster for the Commonwealth of Kentucky in response to a severe weather system that has produced numerous tornadoes.”
The tragic losses the nation has endured won’t soon be forgotten, but hopefully, Americans will pull together to quickly clean up the devastation that has been left behind.
