Not yet 24 hours into his presidency, Joe Biden received a surprising message.
The call was from Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Joe Biden on his inauguration, but urged the new president to continue what his predecessor, Donald Trump, had started, both in forging peace deals between Israel and Arab countries and in confronting Iran,” reports Breitbart.
Netanyahu’s message to Biden was less a congratulations and more a reminder that there is a price to pay for abandoning the foreign policies of his predecessor.
“President Biden, you and I have had a warm personal friendship going back many decades,” Netanyahu reportedly said. “I look forward to working with you to further strengthen the US-Israel alliance, to continue expanding peace between Israel and the Arab world and to confront common challenges — chief among them the threat posed by Iran.”
However, a return to the Iran deal will be ice water on the warm glow of Netanyahu’s affection. And that’s exactly what is expected.
“If Biden adopts Obama’s plan, we will have nothing to talk about with him,” said a top Israeli official according to Breitbart.
