President-elect Joe Biden got some bad news when New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan reminded Biden that opposition to abortion is required as a Catholic, and if Biden chooses to support abortion, it will have significant blowback.
Cardinal Dolan said, “As our new president, whom we wish well, and who speaks with admirable sensitivity about protecting the rights of the weakest and most threatened, ran on a platform avidly supporting this gruesome capital punishment for innocent pre-born babies.”
Cardinal Dolan’s essay went on to discuss the state of the abortion debate and how opposition to abortion is required of any good catholic, which Biden claims to be.
He continued saying, “How can we sustain a culture that recoils at violence, exclusion, suicide, racism, injustice, and callousness toward those in need, if we applaud, allow, pay for, and promote the destruction of the most helpless, the baby in the womb?”
It is clear to many that Biden will continue to support the pro-choice agenda. American Catholics need to seriously grapple with this and how to handle Catholics who actively support abortion.
Catholic political figures who directly support or attack the pro-choice agenda should be held to the highest standard.
