Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) went on CNN Monday to say that Biden’s sanctions on parts of Ukraine that are attempting to separate from the country and have been recognized by Russia are a “half-step” and “not going to be enough.”
“I think it is a step. Frankly, I think it’s about a half-step,” Garamendi said. “I think it’s time for the administration to come in strong with some much stronger sanctions against, not only Putin and his cronies, but also the military and put in place sanctions that go directly to Russia. This is a good step. There’s nothing wrong with what he’s suggesting to do or what he is doing, but it is not going to be enough.”
He also said Biden should sanction Russia now, because of the aggressive moves it is making.
The White House has said sanctions are not appropriate until Russia actually invades Ukraine.
But now it seems that even Democrats don’t agree with him.
