An election “reversal” just stunned Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. His party has been completely humiliated — they never expected this to happen at the eleventh hour.
“Anybody who understands politics, who passed a basic level of civics knows that right now, in this moment, Joe Biden is literally and legally not the president-elect,” said conservative commentator Candace Owens in a video.
The video, which she posted on Facebook, was subsequently rated “false” by PolitiFact — the “fact-checker” Facebook uses to assist the social media platform in suppressing information. But Owens wasn’t going to let this stand.
Owens appealed the rating and PolitiFact was forced to admit their mistake and issue a correction. PolitiFact determined “on Nov. 20 … that a correction was appropriate, and removed the false rating.” In other words, it was a reversal.
While admitting and correcting the error is a welcome result, it should have never happened in the first place. Owens was 100% factually correct in her statement and, therefore, her claim was indisputable.
Chances are, someone at PolitiFact got over-eager to flag one of Owens’ videos as “false” — there can really be no other explanation. This is why it is time for Congress to review the special legal protections given to social media platforms.
