Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) crushed President Joe Biden for allowing Russia to build pipelines while shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have employed thousands of Americans.
After four years of accusing former President Trump of being a Russian asset, Biden is allowing Russia to take over significant parts of the energy market.
Senator Portman said during a press release on Thursday that, “I am opposed to the Biden administration’s decision to waive the congressionally-mandated sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG. This choice is contrary to our national interests, and at an especially volatile period, helps Russia while hurting Ukraine and our European Union allies.”
U.S. sanctions were critical to keeping Russia hemmed in as, without them, Russia can force the EU into relying on Russia for its energy needs.
Senator Portman continued saying, “The State Department is on record saying that the Biden administration believes the pipeline is a bad idea, will hurt Europe, and is against our U.S. national interests. I, and my bipartisan colleagues in Congress, see this project for what it really is — an attempt by Russia to gain control over its European neighbors through the region’s energy supply.”
It isn’t far-fetched to say that Joe Biden is conspiring with Russia to make the EU reliant on Vladimir Putin and Russian energy. After what Democrats did to Trump, perhaps Biden should face the same scrutiny.
