Jen Psaki, White House press secretary, is a master at dodging direct questions, and she’s done it again!
In a recent press conference, Psaki couldn’t just admit that President Biden and Vice President Harris made mistakes in believing Smollett’s hate crime hoax. Instead, she noted that Biden and Harris weren’t alone in believing him.
“Smollett claimed in January 2019 that he was savagely attacked near his Chicago apartment while leaving to pick up food. Smollett was found guilty on five of six charges relating to felony disorderly conduct on Friday. Smollett was determined to have repeatedly lied to police and fabricated the incident for publicity,” reported Fox News.
“I would say that we respect the jury’s decision,” Psaki said. “Lying to the police, particularly about something as heinous as a hate crime, is shameful.”
After the hoax, politicians nationwide made statements on the attack, believing Smollett’s story immediately.
What happened today to @JussieSmollett must never be tolerated in this country. We must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie. https://t.co/o8ilPu68CM

.@JussieSmollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I’m praying for his quick recovery.
This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate.
