After White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki criticized Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) for not doing enough to get people vaccinated in his state, DeSantis pushed back by saying that if President Joe Biden really wanted to save lives, he would not be ignoring treatments for the disease just to push mandates.
“If he wants to be a constructive part of this process, then perhaps he should encourage what scientists say is the best way save lives, prevent, and reduce hospitalization, and that is getting vaccinated and getting boosted,” Psaki said of DeSantis.
But DeSantis advocates that people have a choice about vaccination and are not forced to comply.
He hit back against Psaki’s comments through his press secretary, with Christina Pushaw saying, “Florida has a higher than average vaccination rate, and Miami-Dade County (main omicron hotspot in Florida) is 93% vaccinated — far higher than mandate dystopia NYC. People are still getting sick.”
“If you cared about saving lives — you wouldn’t ignore treatment,” he concluded.
