President Trump just cut ties with longtime associate and 2016 deputy campaign manager David Bossie after Bossie was discovered misappropriating campaign donations.
Axios reported that a Bossie-lead fundraising organization called the Presidential Coalition was caught spending millions of donations on fundraising, salaries, and boosting sales Bossie’s book.
Bossie’s coalition raised $18.5 million for the Trump campaign in 2017 and 2018, but only spent a fraction of it on actual political activities.
President Trump was reportedly livid about the revelation. A Trump insider divulged that “he thought it was unconscionable to trick people into thinking they were donating to the Trump campaign when they were not.”
The Trump campaign released a statement calling for the authorities to investigate “all alleged scam groups for potential illegal activities.”
Another source close to the President said that the unusual dismissal was meant to “send a warning to anyone who would exploit this president for financial gain.”
