Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton just stunned the nation. Refusing to stay out of the spotlight, she issued a public announcement that has caught everyone’s attention. It is official.
“To all the candidates, staff, and volunteers who have worked their hearts out for presidential campaigns that have ended — remember that fighting for what you believe in is always worth it,” tweeted Clinton.
She tweeted this statement after Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) dropped out of the 2020 presidential race. Harris started off as a legitimate contender for the Democratic nomination, but she slowly spiraled into irrelevancy.
With Clinton interjecting herself once again into presidential politics — especially as the field of Democrats is narrowed down — some are wondering if she will become a last-minute candidate herself.
“I have been deluged the last few weeks with thinking about doing that, but right now I’m not at all planning that,” said Clinton on the Graham Norton Show, noting that she would “have to make up my mind really quickly.”
Notice how Clinton chose her words, however. In the past, she has definitively said “no” to the idea, but this answer is far more nuanced and political. She could be preparing to lose to Donald Trump for a second time.
