A Democrat alderman in Chicago complained on Thursday that “we still talk more about COVID than we do gun violence” despite the fact that more kids die from gun violence than the virus.
Host Jesse Watters asked Alderman Raymond Lopez, “Are you saying more children in Chicago have died from bullets than have died from COVID-19?”
Lopez answered, “More children have been victimized by gun violence in the city of Chicago than have been killed by COVID in the entire state of Illinois in the last year. And yet we still talk more about COVID than we do gun violence.”
It is rare to hear a Democrat speak that kind of truth about the impact of COVID-19 on children.
The virus tends to be mild when children under 18 get it, but most Democrats seem to want parents to fear COVID-19 more than gun violence.
