House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Thursday that former Trump National Security Advider John Bolton had not acted with patriotism by refusing to testify during impeachment because he wanted to make money writing a tell-all book.
“The fact that he wasn’t willing to testify in the House and was willing to tie us up in court for a long time but willing to tell this story to a book, to make money for a book tells you a lot about John Bolton’s character,” Schiff said.
Schiff did say that the allegations in the book should be taken seriously because they are consistent with other accounts. He also agreed with Bolton’s assessment that President Donald Trump is unfit for office.
Of course Schiff’s confirmation bias about Trump will be working overtime as he considers Bolton’s allegations, rather than looking at Bolton as a disgruntled former employee who is angry about being fired by Trump.
The Trump administration is trying to block the publication of Bolton’s book, saying that it contains classified information.
