Republicans are looking to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from her committee assignments because of repeated anti-Semitic statements she has made since being elected in 2018.
Although they don’t have enough votes to win an outright vote on removing Omar, they are seeking to add an amendment to an existing resolution to remove Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from her committee assignments because of extreme statements she has made about her views.
Reps. Brian Babin (R-TX), Jeff Duncan (R-SC), Jody Hice (R-GA), Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and Ronny Jackson (R-TX) are among the Republicans who supported the amendment.
Omar has claimed that “Israel has hypnotized the world” and that Israeli leaders are trying to pressure American citizens to pledge their loyalty to Israel.
Omar was also involved in the BDS movement, which has led to attacks against Jews.
