“Before I let you go, are you saying you will never run for Senate in North Carolina? Is that what you’re saying? You will never run?” asked Fox News’ Jesse Watters to Lara Trump. “I never said never,” Trump responded.
“Look, I would love to represent my home state and I think that it’s a really incredible thing to be in these polls,” she continued. “There’s a big decision at hand and I haven’t yet decided.”
Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) is not seeking reelection in 2022, leaving open the possibility of a stacked Republican primary — and President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law is already polling well.
According to a recent BUSR/UNLV Lee Business School survey, she currently “leads former North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (R) 24 percent to 23 percent,” reported The Hill earlier this month.
For Trump to run for the seat, she would have to move from New York to her home state of North Carolina. Watters suggested that her husband, Eric Trump, could “play a lot of golf.” She answered, “There you go.”
