A quietly House-passed bill offers a back-door way for Chinese to buy citizenship into the U.S. and bypass current restrictions on their immigration, according to Breitbart News.
House bill H.R. 565 allows Chinese citizens the ability to enter the U.S. through the EB-5 program after first buying citizenship in Portugal.
The process can take as little as 35 days and bypasses limitations on immigrants from China, which have delayed Chinese citizens getting investor visas for up to 10 years.
The bill was not formally voted on but was slipped through anyway. “Congress is getting duped. … [The bill is] creating a new path for Chinese people,” said one Capitol Hill source.
It appears to have at least some bi-partisan support, including from Rep. David Cline (R-VA). Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) also supports the bill.
