A fellow Democrat is suing Clinton for damages “that are estimated to exceed $50 million.” A press release from Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s presidential campaign detailed the defamation lawsuit against Clinton.
The Hawaii congresswoman, known for having a fierce independent streak, has accused Clinton of “deliberately and maliciously” making “false statements in an attempt to derail Rep. Gabbard’s campaign.”
Back in October of 2019, Clinton, without any evidence whatsoever, claimed that Gabbard is favored by Russia. “Yeah, she’s a Russian asset,” said Clinton. The media then ran with her comments.
As noted by Gabbard’s press release: “The media extensively republished and disseminated these statements, which were interpreted widely as Clinton asserting that Gabbard is a Russian asset.”
The fallout was immediate. Gabbard, who had been a rising star in the Democrat primary, fell suddenly and quickly; the damage was done. Now, she is taking Clinton to court for this targeted attack.
