Former Secretary of State and twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton just announced a major reversal. Joe Biden is completely shocked — he can’t believe she went public less than 70 days before the November election.
During an interview this week, Clinton said that “Joe Biden should not concede under any circumstances.” This is a major flip-flop. After all, in October of 2016, she accused then-candidate Donald Trump of refusing to accept the election results.
“Donald Trump refused to say that he’d respect the results of this election,” she tweeted on October 24, 2016, mere days before the presidential election. “That’s a direct threat to our democracy.”
According to her own standard, then, wouldn’t Biden’s refusal to concede — especially if the results are clear — constitute “a direct threat to our democracy”? If any mainstream reporter had integrity, she would be asked this question.
It is also interesting to note that Biden himself might be a little nervous about Clinton’s comment that he should not concede. She has now — possibly without meaning to — insinuated that Biden could lose on Election Day.
This begs the question: Have Democrats concluded that Trump will likely win at the ballot box, so they are already preparing for a legal fight? “I think this is going to drag out and eventually I do believe he [Biden] will win if we don’t give an inch,” she said.
