FCC Chief Ajit Pai announced Monday that he will step down from his position on January 20, Breitbart News reported.
Pai made the controversial decision to end what Democrats called “net neutrality” and had criticized Big Tech’s recent infringements on free speech.
He had planned to implement President Donald Trump’s executive order to curb Big Tech’s power and liability protections, but that initiative is unlikely to move forward with Pai gone and a new administration in place.
Pai called it the “honor of a lifetime” to serve under Trump and lauded his staff at the FCC.
He was the first Asian-American to hold the position.
