President Donald Trump just shocked the White House and the entire country. He is out — millions of Americans can’t believe it. But people paying attention saw this coming for a long time.
According to Breitbart News, Trump “fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper on Monday, in a long-anticipated move.” He made the announcement on Twitter about who would be replacing Esper as well.
“I am pleased to announce that Christopher C. Miller, the highly respected Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (unanimously confirmed by the Senate), will be Acting Secretary of Defense, effective immediately,” said Trump.
“Chris will do a GREAT job!” he continued. “Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service.” Breitbart reported that the relationship between Trump and Esper started going downhill earlier this year.
Reportedly, the reason is that Esper “preempted the president by declaring he did not support using active-duty forces to restore peace during a summer of violent riots.” This understandably made Trump second-guess his choice.
And, no, it was not because Trump intended to deploy troops against peaceful protesters — in spite of the media’s lies to the controversy. Trump wanted to use the mere threat of troops to deter violent riots. Instead, Esper spoke out of line.
