The 2022 Philippine presidential election is over.
Meet your winner, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the newest President of the the Republic of the Philippines.
While final numbers are still trickling in, as of now Marcos Jr. has secured almost 59% of the votes cast for President in his country.
Marcos Jr., who goes by the name “Bongbong,” delivered an unofficial victory speech on May 11.
The governments of China and the United States both issued statements recognizing Bongbong as the new leader of the Philippines.
Marcos Jr. is 64-years-old and the son of former Philippine leader Ferdinand Marcos. His father occupied the office from 1965 to 1986 during a period that critics refer to as a dictatorship.
