The news just dropped — he is leaving the Republican Party. A former president has shocked millions of fo Americans across the country.
Appearing on NBC’s “Today,” host Hoda Kotb asked former President George W. Bush about the current state of the GOP. His response: “Isolationist, protectionist, and to a certain extent, nativist.”
Kotb also asked him if he was “disappointed” in the party’s current dynamic. “Well, that’s not exactly my vision, but you know what, I’m just an old guy they put out to pasture,” Bush said with a chuckle.
While he has a few redeeming qualities — such as the strong leadership he showed in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks — Bush seems to care more about pleasing the DC swamp these days.
Border security is not “isolationist,” “protectionist,” or “nativist.” For example, most Americans support immigration — they just want it handled legally and orderly. Liberals want de facto open borders.
We are seeing the end result of the political establishment’s goal at the southern border right now: total chaos. Now, President Joe Biden and others (possibly even Bush) will push for amnesty.
