Rep.-elect Luke Letlow (R-LA) died of the coronavirus Tuesday at the young age of 41, leaving behind a wife and two young children.
Letlow was only days away from being sworn in to office when he was hospitalized with the virus and then died of the infection.
He had been in stable condition in ICU when he suffered a cardiac event and could not be resuscitated, according to his doctor.
House leaders including Steve Scalise (R-LA) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) mourned Letlow’s passing.
“May it be a comfort to Luke’s wife Julia and their children Jeremiah and Jacqueline that so many mourn their loss and are praying for them at this sad time,” Pelosi wrote in a statement.
