A high-ranking GOP official was just pronounced dead. Republicans are completely stunned — they never expected this tragic turn of events.
“Rep. Ron Wright, R-Texas, died Sunday at age 67 two weeks after being hospitalized with his wife Susan after testing positive for COVID-19.” The congressman had also battled lung cancer since 2018.
“As friends, family and many of his constituents will know, Ron maintained his quick wit and optimism until the very end,” said a statement from his office. Statements from his colleagues in Congress also poured in.
According to Fox News, Wright is now the first sitting member of Congress to pass away following a diagnosis of COVID-19. Representative-elect Luke Letlow (R-LA), 41, died “in late December after contracting coronavirus.”
Considering that Wright had a serious, underlying condition of lung cancer, he was particularly susceptible to the virus. Please pray for his family, friends, and colleagues as they mourn his loss.
