Famous magician Roy Horn of the Las Vegas act Siegfried and Roy has died of complications caused by coronavirus. He was 75 years old.
Siegfried Fischbacher, Horn’s partner in the famous act, said, “Today, the world has lost one of the greats of magic, but I have lost my best friend. From the moment we met, I knew Roy and I, together, would change the world.”
The two started their show in Las Vegas in 1967 and the show continued through to 2003 when Horn was injured severely by a white tiger involved in the show.
The act was the longest-running show in Vegas and also one of the most successful attractions. Had it not been for Horn’s tragic accident the show may have continued much longer.
Fischbacher continued by thanking the medical staff taking care of Horn. “Roy was a fighter his whole life including during these final days. I give my heartfelt appreciation to the team of doctors, nurses and staff at Mountain View Hospital [in Las Vegas] who worked heroically against this insidious virus.”
This is another sad reminder of the toll coronavirus has taken on our nation. Let’s hope the end of the pandemic is soon and scientists can produce a vaccine.
