BREAKING: He’s DEAD – Football Legend Death Shocks

Hall of Fame coach Johnny Majors died Wednesday at age 85 in Knoxville, Tennessee, his wife said in a statement.

Majors was a player and coach for Tennessee and also coached at Pittsburgh and Iowa State. He coached Pittsburgh’s 1976 national championship team.

He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1987 before retiring in 1996.

He was the runner up for the Heisman Trophy in 1956 as a player for Tennessee.

The pinnacle of his coaching career was coaching Heisman Trophy winner Tony Dorsett on the Pittsburgh 1976 national championship team.
