A legend was just declared dead. This is such a tragic moment for his millions of fans around the world, and the details keep coming in as the situation develops. People are shocked.
“The Grammy-nominated country music firebrand Charlie Daniels has died of a stroke at 83,” reported The Associated Press (AP). Daniels’ tragic death was confirmed by his publicist this week.
While Daniels is best known for his megahit song ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia,’ which “was No. 1 on the country charts in 1979 and No. 3 on the pop charts,” he blazed a music trail for decades.
In honor of his life’s work, Daniels was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016 and will remain a beloved artist for generations to come with his down-to-earth and patriotic tunes.
Daniels’ death even caught the attention of President Donald Trump. “We will miss GREAT Country Rocker, Charlie Daniels, who passed away yesterday in Hermitage, Tennessee,” Trump tweeted.
“My condolences to his wife Hazel, and their family,” Trump continued. “Charlie is in my thoughts and prayers. I love his music!” Daniels will certainly be missed by all of us. Rest in peace, sir.
