The beloved host of Jeopardy! Alex Trebek died Sunday from pancreatic cancer, which he had battled for more than a year.
The show’s official Twitter account said he was surrounded by friends and family at the time of his death.
Trebek underwent treatment for the cancer, which has a very low cure rate, and continued to work on the show during treatment.
The treatment initially appeared to be successful, but eventually the cancer continued to grow and Trebek succumbed.
Trebek hosted Jeopardy! since 1984.
