After the FBI arrested former White House economic adviser Peter Navarro for contempt of Congress, they put him in leg irons and placed him in John Hinckley Jr.’s former cell.
Hinckley was recently released after serving close to 40 years for attempting to assassinate then-president Ronald Reagan.
Navarro tweeted about the arrest, saying, “What they did to me today violated the Constitution.”
He claimed executive privilege as the reason he defied the subpoena, and he plans to sue the January 6 committee for violating his constitutional rights in asking him to abandon executive privilege.
Navarro plans to represent himself in the proceedings.
