A high-ranking public official was just arrested and Democrats are stunned. They never expected this to happen — one of their own is behind bars.
“Broward County Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie was arrested on Wednesday by Florida law enforcement officers, according to jail records and local reports from within the state,” reported Breitbart News.
Runcie has reportedly been arrested “on a charge of perjury in an official proceeding” due to “testimony he gave to the grand jury on March 31 and April 1″ related to the Parkland school massacre.
Details are scarce otherwise — specifically, the exact allegations. But this is “because grand jury proceedings are secret,” so it should be no surprise. More will be known in the near future.
For now, Runcie claims that he doesn’t even know why he was indicted and arrested. But controversy has followed his tenure ever since the shooting that left 17 people dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
According to Breitbart, “The parents and students assert Runcie and members of the school board failed to keep MSD students safe as a result of mismanagement of funds allocated for school safety.”
