News just broke from our nation’s capitol. He abruptly resigned, and DC is in shock. What happens next will determine the course of the country for the foreseeable future.
Dan Coats, who has served as Director of National Intelligence for over two years, turned in his resignation and thanked President Trump for the opportunity. His letter painted the move as positive.
“The Intelligence Community is stronger than ever, and increasingly well prepared to meet new challenges and opportunities. As we have previously discussed, I believe it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my life,” wrote Coats.
However, given the ongoing investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia ‘collusion’ witch-hunt, Trump quickly nominated Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX) to fill the post — a strong choice to be sure.
Ratcliffe has proven his eagerness to get to the bottom of it all during his questioning of Robert Mueller. Additionally, Trump praised his credentials when announcing him as Coats’ replacement.
“A former U.S. Attorney, John will lead and inspire greatness for the Country he loves,” tweeted Trump. “Dan Coats, the current Director, will be leaving office on August 15th.”
