Star Democrat impeachment witness and Harvard Law School professor Noah Feldman reminded Americans that President Trump has not been impeached.
In an opinion editorial for Bloomberg News, Feldman wrote, “If the House does not communicate its impeachment to the Senate, it hasn’t actually impeached the president. If the articles are not transmitted, Trump could legitimately say that he wasn’t truly impeached at all.”
Democrats in the House have so far not sent the articles to the Senate, and until they do that Trump has not been impeached.
There has been a huge amount of premature celebration. If anything, the impeachment vote showed that most Americans don’t understand how our government works.
Some assumed that President Trump would be immediately removed from office. Others simply ignore the huge role the Senate plays in impeachment.
Until Democrats send the articles to the Senate, Trump remains free of impeachment. And when they do send the articles, the Senate will likely acquit President Trump.
