Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg was just exposed as a hypocrite. As mayor, he reportedly messed with the city’s rule on term limits and granted himself a third term.
“Perhaps Mr. Bloomberg’s most controversial move was running for a third term in 2009 by engineering the repeal of a law passed twice by voter referendum limiting city elected officials to two terms,” said the WSJ.
So, in an ironic twist, while Bloomberg bills himself as the “un-Trump” and accuses the president of being an authoritarian, his power-play in New York City shows who the real dictator is.
Many voters didn’t seem to like Bloomberg’s move, either. He was re-elected for a third term by an extremely narrow margin — only 51-percent. This was “just five points ahead of his challenger,” said Breitbart.
Attempting to cover his political rear, Bloomberg then reinstated the city’s two-term limit, however, he can’t weasel his way out of this controversy — he created a rule for himself and denied it to others.
Bloomberg even tried to call it “an extraordinary one-time thing,” claiming he was the only one who could help New York City out of the 2008 financial crisis. His arrogance is unbelievable.
