On his Fox News show Thuesday night, Sean Hannity advised
former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn Thursday to withdraw his guilty plea and “fight” his jail sentence for providing false statements to the FBI.
Hannity said that Flynn, a decorated veteran, was “set up” in a perjury trap by James Comey, Andrew McCabe and Robert Mueller during the investigation into whether President Donald Trump colluded with Russia. Flynn has already fired his legal team and signaled that he might contest his jail sentence.
The deal happened as Flynn cooperated with Mueller’s investigation, but no wrongdoing by the president turned up in the probe. Now, Comey and Mueller are being investigated to see whether they really had enough legitimate evidence to move forward with the investigation.
Mueller did make several indictments against former Trump officials including Flynn, but none of them had anything to do with Trump’s conduct during his time in office or during his presidential campaign.
Hannity rightly recognized that Flynn’s prosecution was a result of Mueller grasping at straws and doesn’t want to see this veteran who served his country for 33 years be the scapegoat for people that just demand a pound of flesh from someone, even it it’s not Trump.
