New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell (D) has put in place a new executive order banning the sale and transportation of firearms in the city.
Cantrell also reportedly threatened to suspend the sale of alcoholic beverages in the city as well, if she felt the situation warranted such action.
The Second Amendment Foundation has already threatened to sue Cantrell over the restrictions and reminded her that they sued the city during Katrina when similar provisions were enacted.
“The presence of a nasty disease does not suspend any part of the Bill of Rights, no matter what some municipal, state or even federal politician may think,” the foundation said.
There is no evidence that guns are any more of a threat during this outbreak than before it. Cantrell is yet another Democrat taking advantage of the perceived crisis to take actions she would never dare to take under normal circumstances, and it’s downright shameful.
